Fast or Quality Choosing the Right AI Image Setting

Before you make a picture in Melon Cut Design, you choose between two settings: Fast and Quality. The choice is simple once you think of it as a working method rather than a quality ranking. This article explains what each is for, how to move between them and where the choice is made for you.

The short answer

  • Fast is for exploring: trying ideas, comparing directions, testing a prompt.
  • Quality is for finishing: the picture you plan to publish, print or send to a client.

Think of Fast as a sketch and Quality as the final piece.

When to use Fast

Use Fast at the start of a job, when you do not yet know what you want.

  • You are testing three different concepts for a campaign.
  • You want to see if a prompt gives you the right subject and setting.
  • You are trying different colours or compositions.
  • You want to discover which wording gets the result closest.

Fast costs fewer credits, so you can try more directions. Do not judge the final polish from a Fast picture. Judge the idea, the layout and the mood.

Four Fast tries: a bakery counter at dawn with a hand-written sign, in a warm palette. Then the same scene in cool blue light. Then close-up on the bread. Then a wide view from the street.

Compare and pick the one that fits the message.

When to use Quality

Switch to Quality when the idea is settled and you need the picture to hold up.

  • Fine detail matters: faces, hands, fabric, food textures.
  • The picture will be seen large, such as a banner or print.
  • Text appears in the picture.
  • A client or customer will look closely.

Quality: a portrait of the bakery counter at dawn, warm palette, a hand-written sign reading "Fresh at 6". Keep the top third empty for a headline.

Social pictures always use Quality

When you switch Melon Cut Design to Social, pictures always use Quality. The reason is practical: a social post is the finished item, and it is seen on high-resolution phone screens, often with text in it. So for social posts, you do not need to choose.

If you want to explore a concept with Fast, do it in General, then move to Social to make the final posts. The formats and safe areas apply when you are in Social: posts at 4:5 (1080 x 1350) or square 1:1 (1080 x 1080), stories at 9:16 (1080 x 1920), and link images at 1200 x 628.

A working routine

  1. Explore in General with Fast, using short prompts.
  2. Pick the best direction.
  3. Rewrite the prompt with more detail. Write a Good AI Image Prompt shows how.
  4. Make the final version with Quality, or in Social.
  5. Check the picture closely, including every word and number.

What neither setting changes

Neither setting guarantees a perfect result. Text may contain mistakes, small objects may look odd, and colours may drift from your product. Always inspect the picture before it leaves your hands.

Credits

Both settings use credits, and Quality uses more. The current options are on the pricing page. A good habit is to explore cheaply and finish carefully.

Doing it in Melon Cut

In Melon Cut Design, choose Fast or Quality next to your prompt in General. In Social, pictures are made with Quality. One prompt can make up to 4 pictures, so you can compare versions at either setting.
