Best AI Prompts for Product Photos
A good prompt for a product photo is not clever. It is specific. These are the best AI prompts for product photos that I would give a shop owner: ten you can paste and change. Swap the product in square brackets and the rest does the work.
The formula
Every prompt below follows the same order: product, surface, light, camera, mood, space for text. Learn the order and you can write your own.
Clean listing shots
Product photo of [product] on a seamless white background, soft even studio light, gentle shadow underneath, centred, nothing else in the frame. Square 1:1.
[Product] standing on a pale grey surface, light from the left, a clean reflection below, minimal, sharp focus on the front edge.
Lifestyle shots
[Product] on a wooden kitchen counter next to a cutting board and fresh herbs, bright morning window light, shallow depth of field, a home that looks lived in. 4:5 post.
A person holding [product] outdoors on a city street, cropped at the shoulders, soft overcast light, background blurred, natural colours.
Flat lays
Overhead flat lay of [product] with three related objects on a warm beige linen background, even light, balanced spacing, space at the top for a headline. Square 1:1.
Close-ups
Macro close-up of the [material or detail] of [product], very shallow depth of field, side light that shows texture, dark background.
Gifting
[Product] in an open gift box with tissue paper and a small handwritten card, on a dark green table, warm lamp light, festive but calm. Story 9:16.
Moody and bold
[Product] on a black glossy surface with a single beam of coloured light from behind, dramatic shadows, high contrast, empty space on the left.
Seasonal
[Product] among autumn leaves and a knitted blanket, golden hour light, warm tones, cosy feeling, a clear area at the bottom for text. 4:5 post.
Make a prompt better
- Replace general words with exact ones. Not "nice light", but "soft window light from the left".
- Add what to leave out: "no people", "no text".
- Say where empty space goes if you will add words.
- Name the format at the end.
- Attach a photo of the real item so the picture follows it.

Always check
Whichever prompt you use, compare the picture with the real product. Look at the shape, the colour, any label text and the number of parts. Do not publish a picture that shows a detail your product does not have.
Use a set, not a single picture
Run three or four of these on the same product and you have a listing, a social post and a story. To keep the product the same through all of them, see put your product in a new scene with AI.
Doing it in Melon Cut
Paste a prompt into Melon Cut Design, attach your product photo and choose General or Social. Use Fast to test the idea and Quality for the version you publish. Each prompt makes up to 4 pictures.
