Create Holiday Posts with AI
Holidays are a natural reason to post. People are already in the mood, and a short, warm message is welcome. To create holiday posts with AI that do not look like everyone else's, you need to plan ahead, write with care and add something that belongs to your business. This article covers all three.
Make a holiday list once a year
At the start of the year, write down which holidays and occasions matter to your customers. Not all of them. Choose the ones where you have something real to say: an opening hours change, a special item, a thank you, an offer.
For each one, note:
- the date
- whether your hours or services change
- the message you want to send
- the format: a post, a story or a short video
You then have a calendar of content that will not catch you off guard.
Be careful with the message
A holiday greeting is personal. Get the basics right.
- Use the right name for the occasion. Check spelling and the correct greeting.
- Check the date. Some holidays move each year or depend on a calendar or local sighting. Confirm the date for your region, and do not trust an AI-written date.
- Respect the tone. Some occasions are celebratory, some are solemn, and some are both. When unsure, keep the post simple and warm.
- Avoid assuming everyone celebrates. A short, kind message is safer than a sales push.
Make it yours
Generic holiday pictures look the same across hundreds of accounts. Add the thing that is yours:
- your shop window, dressed for the day
- your signature product wrapped or arranged for the occasion
- your team or your place of work, if you are comfortable showing them
- your colours and your voice instead of default seasonal reds and golds
A portrait Instagram post of a small bookshop window decorated with warm string lights and stacked books, evening, snow on the pavement outside. Text at the top in cream letters: "Happy holidays from all of us". Leave space at the bottom.
A square post for a flower shop: a simple green ribbon wrapped around a bunch of white tulips on a pale table, soft daylight. Text in the centre: "Open until 2 pm on the holiday". Check this text is exactly as written.
Include practical details
Customers want to know whether you are open. A holiday post is a good place to say it:
- opening hours on the day
- last order or last pickup
- when you reopen
- any change to deliveries
Put these in the picture or caption, and double-check them against reality.
Offers
If you run an offer, state it plainly: what, when, how. Do not use claims you cannot support. AI can invent offer wording, so write the terms yourself and check the final picture.
Use a series
A holiday can have three small posts instead of one large one: a countdown story, the main greeting, and a thank-you after. A plan from one prompt can hold up to 30 posts, stories, pictures and videos, so a seasonal set can be made in one go. See Make a Social Media Content Plan with AI.
Keep it on brand
Name your brand with @ and the logo, colours, fonts and voice are followed. A holiday post still needs to look like you. Do not drop your usual style for a seasonal look that has nothing to do with your brand.
