Write a Brand Style Prompt for AI

A brand style prompt is a short block of words that describes how your pictures should look, independent of what they show. If you write a brand style prompt for AI once, you can reuse it in every request and keep a feed from looking like five different brands. Here is how to build one, line by line.

What a style prompt is not

It is not the subject. "A woman drinking tea" is a subject. "Warm daylight, soft shadows, a neutral cream backdrop, one accent of deep green" is style. Keep them separate and you can swap subjects freely.

The six lines of a style prompt

Write one short line for each, using things you can see.

  1. Light: "soft window light", "hard midday sun", "evening glow".
  2. Color: "cream and deep green, small orange accents".
  3. Composition: "one subject, plenty of empty space, shot slightly from above".
  4. Texture and finish: "matte, natural grain, no glossy effects".
  5. Mood: "calm, unhurried, a little playful".
  6. Avoid: "no neon, no clutter, no people looking at the camera".

The avoid line is as important as the rest. It removes the habits you dislike.

Three examples for different brands

A climbing gym

Strong overhead light, chalk dust in the air, concrete gray and bright orange, wide angles, real movement and effort, gritty and energetic. Avoid posed smiles and soft focus.

A skincare brand

Soft diffused light, pale stone and warm white, single product on a plain surface, lots of empty space, calm and clean. Avoid busy props and harsh shadows.

A family bookshop

Warm lamp light, wooden shelves, deep red and cream, cozy close-ups of hands and pages, gentle and curious. Avoid empty minimal rooms.

Use it with a subject

Put the style first or last, and the subject in the middle. For example:

Subject: a lemon cake on a plate. Style: soft window light, cream and deep green, one subject, plenty of empty space, matte, calm. Avoid clutter.

Let the guidelines carry the fixed parts

Colors, fonts and logo rules already live in your guidelines. A brand style prompt is for the parts that change with each situation, or the parts you have not written down yet. Better still, once the style has proven itself, move it into your guidelines under imagery. Read Create Images That Follow Your Brand Guidelines.

Test and tighten

Generate four pictures with the same style and different subjects. Put them in a row. Do they look like the same brand? If one is the odd one out, find which line is vague and sharpen it. Keep the words short. A twelve-line style prompt gets ignored more than a six-line one.

Check the details

Style is not a replacement for review. Read any text in the picture, and check colors against your codes.

In Melon Cut

Save your style lines in Melon Cut Guidelines with the rest of the brand, then name it with @ in Melon Cut Design and add your subject. A single prompt can make up to 4 pictures, so you can compare options. For general prompt writing, see Share Brand Guidelines with AI.
